Explore the White Mountains: Scenic Views, Historic Sites, and Waterfalls

New England is famous for its stunning fall foliage, and the White Mountains of New Hampshire offer some of the best views in the country. Our journey takes us through the renowned Kancamagus Highway, with several photo stops along the way. We’ll pass through Franconia Notch, a breathtaking mountain pass in the White Mountain National Forest, and explore the Flume Gorge—a 2-mile trail through a natural chasm, featuring covered bridges, glacial rocks, and the beautiful Avalanche Falls. We’ll then visit the Basin, a granite pothole carved by glaciers 15,000 years ago, and make our way to the Old Man Historic Site and Memorial Plaza to learn about the iconic “Great Stone Face,” which was celebrated for over 200 years before it crumbled in 2003. Later, we’ll take a scenic drive along Route 302 to the Mount Washington Hotel, where we’ll stop for photos of the hotel with views of Mount Washington.
